"The first season laid the groundwork for a compelling story about hardship, struggle, and success. The second season starts off rough with the wife and daughter still written as obnoxiously as they were in the first, if not more so, and it's hurting the show. Their portrayal as cartoonishly unintelligent, one-dimensional sex objects is so overdone, tone-deaf, and reductionist that it breaks the spell of immersion.
