"And that's exactly where the joke lies. "Extrawurst" takes something utterly trivial and blows it up to club-meeting proportions. A grill. A vote. A discussion. That's all the film needs to show how quickly everyday nonsense can turn into a full-blown social proxy war. Almost everything takes place in a single location, and it works surprisingly well. The film lives off dialogue, glances, pauses and a cast that knows how to play things dry without slipping into broad farce. Seeing Hape Kerkeling again is simply fun, if only for his presence alone.
