After a relationship-testing fight, Kiki, and her mom, Theresa, sleep off their anger only to find themselves dreaming of each other in different stages of their life, learning how the past and future affected both of them. The short starts in the aftermath of the fight as the mother-daughter duo plead to God/the universe to help fix their relationship. In their respective dreams, Kiki meets a young Theresa in college while Theresa meets an older Kiki years after their fight. Intercut between their dreams is a flashback of the argument: Kiki reveals that she eloped with her girlfriend-turned-wife and is moving to the east coast and Theresa's biased, hurtful disapproval influenced by her faith causes things to escalate. Through their dreams, Kiki learns that her mom was estranged from her own parents for religious reasons while Theresa sees not only how happy and loved Kikiis by her wife-but how broken Kiki is without her mother years later. They learn how to reconcile with the other as a result and wake up the next morning, ready to try again.
