Wastelandia is an indie project I have been very excited for ever since seeing the trailer. After four months of waiting I am very impressed that the show is able to exist the way it does, even if it is just five minutes.

The animation absolutely floored me and still continues to do so. Especially after knowing Izzzyzzz paid for the whole thing of pocket. The art style perfectly captures the off kilter and chronically online feel that the show carries. I don&apos;t know how much I can stress that seeing it motion with seemingly zero rigs put together with a team this small is a genuine feat in my eyes. The voice actors all did a great job

The writing is pretty fun. It very clearly is an early work though. There are points where it can feel a bit fast, the structure is a bit simple, the humor is somewhat hit or miss, but those are all symptoms of it being a pilot and not a fully fledged show. I know bigger indie studios have made people think &quot;pilot&quot; just means the first episode of a fully planned out series, but it really is just a test run of the shows concept. It kinda just serves to introduce the main characters and the general idea of the show, and it does that really well. Each of them are meant embody a different part of what Izzzyzzz called &quot;the messiness and weirdness and silliness of being in your early twenties and figuring out who you are.&quot; I&apos;m not necessarily an expert but I think it did that pretty well. I also really like how there&apos;s always this looming sense of dread in the background of all the silliness. From the billboard that says &quot;you&apos;re going to die soon&quot; to the fact it opens on a character doomscrolling through the fire raging across their city(and the ending that combines them both). All the little details like that just happened to stick out to me.

I think that&apos;s about all I wanted to say. It really is just a pilot, and for a pilot it&apos;s really good. Sure, it isn&apos;t perfect. There are definitely edges to smooth out(the editing is slightly distracting in a few shots), but it never really gets too underwhelming. I am still just as excited as I was when I saw the trailer to hopefully see a continuation. I really liked this terminally online and (for lack of a better word) quirky world and I can&apos;t wait to see how great it is once it gets fully developed.
