The names X-Ray and Vav come from a Achievement Hunter video which Gavin and Ray were in. In this video, Gavin accidently calls himself "Vav" instead of "Gav".Later in the same video, Gavin jokingly asks Ray if anyone has ever nicknamed him "X-Ray". This became a running gag between them until Gavin made a joke in another video about how X-Ray and Vav could be crime fighters and the Rooster Teeth community loved the idea.
