JG Quintel&apos;s short animated film essentially introduces a prototype of Pops from his subsequent &apos;Regular Show (2009-2017)&apos;, alongside rudimentary versions of some specific gags that appear in that series. &apos;The Naive Man From Lolliland (2005)&apos; follows a friendly man who gets into trouble when he tries to pay his bill. With a rough, storyboard animation style and a fairly slow pace, the piece is pretty uninspiring. It feels kind of mean in places, too. However, there&apos;s an enjoyable idea at its centre and it&apos;s a decent first effort despite being rough around the edges. It&apos;s interesting to view as one of the stepping stones to the aforementioned Cartoon Network series.
