In Ireland, artist David McDermott (of the world famous McDermott & McGough) * (Peter McGough also interviews) - illuminates the multi faceted dimensions of Edward Brezinski and the era of the art explosion that seized NYC in the 80's. The supernova exploded leaving in its wake...a frustrating 'Duchampian light' era of art (like a peace of dust called 'dust' that often leaves museum goers empty but seems to never give way to the PAINTERS. Can this be rectified?  

Marguerite Van Cook and James Romberger, artists of extraordinary ability, discuss their close friendship with Edward Brezinski of whom they showed at their famous Ground Zero Gallery in the 80's NYC. When Brezinski died suddenly in a hotel in Nice in 2007, he had Marguerite's phone number on his person so she was called by the authorities in France on New Years Day, 2007 to inform her as such. Of note - Sid Vicious called Marguerite with his phone call from jail after he stabbed Nancy. Marguerite Van Cook played in the band 'The Innocents' who toured with 'The Clash' in the 70s.

I saw this film with a Q&amp;A afterwords with the filmmakers. They are both artists, performers, not visual artists or even filmmakers until this many years in the making project took hold of therm.. Their research is spot on and with a mixture of period film and video with backward facing interviews of artists and galleryists they tell a story that transcends their direct subject to evoke a deeply personal and real consideration of all of the immensely talented artists who don&apos;t &quot;succeed.&quot; I lived in New York then and went to some of the places in this film and certainly must have met some of the people in the film. Make Me Famous does a terrific job of showing that life, its milieu, its standards, its values and the hurlyburly of a striving artist, penniless, pursuing his art in anyway available. It&apos;s desperate, sad, and marvelous and brave and tragic all at once and this film captures it all so well..
