"Only a few words on this, the first installment of the franchise, as im queuing up the sequel right now. the sequel that is, by the way, TWICE as long as this movie. the story here is loosely framed, to say the least. add three barely directed teen lead actors, and the feeling throughout "the girl in the cornfield" is one of confusion. storylines rattle around, a few pull a consistent thread; a few more subplots disappear with barely a moments focus. its meandering, poorly shot, and strangely boring for a 68 minute thriller. on to the 2 hour 17 minute magnum opus sequel, say a prayer..."

The inspiration for the film and its title came from a prank Director Ryan Callaway's wife, Producer Amy Callaway, played on him while they were vacationing in Lancaster, PA. While parked and overlooking a massive cornfield late one night, she pretended to see a girl in the cornfield - only to scare Ryan while he was looking for her.
