Really Foxhounds
"The staghound and the related breed, the buckhound, both went extinct in the 19th century. The dogs seen in this movie are actually foxhounds, looking like large beagles. That's not why this is a good movie. What is interesting about it is that it's a pretty good example of Kinemacolour, the first successful color process for film. It was developed by George Albert Smith working for Charles Urban's company, and what's on view in the copy I saw was a lifelike assortment of browns and faded greens, with the bright red jackets worn by the hunters on display.
