"So when Godzilla turned 50, he got the utterly bombastic Godzilla: Final Wars to mark the occasion. And I know not everyone loves that movie, but I do, partly because it's so excessive and goes so far in celebrating Godzilla's history, plus so many of the monsters he'd fought over the years. In comparison, when Gamera turns 50, he only gets a short film marking the occasion. Granted, it's a pretty good short film, but it does - quite naturally - leave you wanting more.
