"The ending credits claim this short film is based on real events. I don't know if that's true, but Stay Out of the Woods plays more like crime horror than supernatural horror, so it could be. The story is decent, though it likely takes some liberties with the narrative-perhaps adding an extra horror-style scene to heighten the effect. Unfortunately, none of the characters feel especially relatable, captivating, or even particularly creepy. In the end, the film's potential was clearly not fully realized...."
