The sword sparking effect in this an film were done the same way as in the Highlander films and television series. Insulated stunt swords were made with leads connected to a car battery. The battery was encased in an explosion proof box, and leads were long enough to keep actors at a safe distance. NEVER try this! Especially since you can do it digitally these days. Electrical arching is VERY dangerous!
