Smithwicks Brewery in Kilkenny closed after 303 years. It was the heart of the city. This documentary looks at the loss felt at it's closure and the importance of family. The closure of the brewery was a sad time, in particular for the workers. Generations of families from grandfathers to fathers,sons to grandsons worked in the brewery. This documentary looks at the social history of the brewery. Former workers were interviewed and asked about their memories of when they started working and how they were affected by the closure. The documentary also captures the fun times of the Christmas parties, the annual social and the beer festival.
