As in several of director Mark G. McFarlane's other films, there are many references to the fiction of horror writer H.P. Lovecraft in 'Feeder'. The film takes place in the storage unit of Miskatonic University. The character of 'Dave Starkweather' is named for the proposed Starkweather-Moore Antarctic expedition in 'At The Mountains of Madness'. 'Ken Dagon' is an obvious nod to the story 'Dagon'. 'Jim Pickman' is a reference to the artist from the story 'Pickman's Model'. The graffiti on the inside of the cubicle door references the submerged city of R'Lyeh (spelled incorrectly), the resting place of the Great Old One Cthulhu, and the mythos deities Yog Sothoth, Azathoth, and Nyarlathothep.
