Phulsiri was filmed in Gorkha, the epicentre of Nepal Earthquake 2015. All the casts in the film are nonprofessionals. Except Ram Sharan Upretti (appears in the film as outsider teacher), all casts are local resident of the village. Phulsiri is the first film of all casts including Ram Sharan Upreti. Phulsiri is also the debut film of Ngima Gelu Lama as film director.
