Carolee verifies for Toni that Billy was the product of an affair between Toni's mother and a musician named Webb. Disagreeing with Steve about Carolee seeing Dan again, Carolee swoons from a dizzy spell, but Steve catches her. Mike teaches Karen how to get with it in 1971 American slang. Steve gives Carolee a kiss for strength in the elevator on the way to her meeting with Dan. Mike tries to convince Toni that Dan might not have been truthful about the man named Webb. Toni feels that she'll be suspended in midair until she discovers the truth about her mother. When Carolee explains to Dan that she was late because she had to resolve a problem in pediatrics, he sarcastically asks if she's telling him another shaded truth. Furthermore, he says that her scheme with Billy fell apart, because Billy told him that he had been in Carolee's office with her and Steve. He's convinced that she's carrying on with Steve right under his nose again. He wants to ask one more thing and insists she answer him honestly. Is it possible that she will return to him for good? Carolee hesitates, but at his urging, she tells him that it isn't possible. After Dan closes his eyes, she leaves the room. Alone, Dan says that Carolee will be responsible for everything that's going to happen to Steve Aldrich.
