This is the second movie directed by Matt Ryan and is technically a remake of his first film, also called "Eight Ball". The original (made in 1998) also starred Ran An, with Matt Ryan playing The Stranger. The original's master tape was eventually lost and no copies exist. Matt Ryan would go on to remake the movie again as his first narrative short at The Northeast School of the Arts. So, Matt Ryan's first 3 movies are all just different versions of "Eight Ball".
