With respect to Sheehan, Irving tells Bosch to "Take the whole 48 hours." The 48-Hour Rule derives from the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling in County of Riverside v. McLaughlin(1991). That case provides that when a person is arrested without a warrant, a probable cause determination must be made without unreasonable delay and cannot occur more than 48 hours after arrest. The time period for the 48 hours begins at the time of the arrest.
