💡 Did You Know?
The 1982 Swiss Grand Prix was held at the Dijon-Prenois circuit in France because circuit motor racing was banned in Switzerland following the catastrophic 1955 Le Mans disaster had killed over 80 spectators and injured 120 more. The race of 1982 was organized by the Swiss Automobile Club in agreement with the owners of the French circuit to allow it to take place, being located close to the Swiss border. This was the second "Swiss Grand Prix" held outside of Switzerland and at Dijon-Prenois; the first was a non-championship Formula One race held on August 24, 1975, and its results did not count towards the World Championship points.
