This episode was a backdoor pilot for a potential ABC comedy series centered around the lives of single mother Lucy Somers (Nia Long) and her daughters Felicia (Rachel Crow) and Gigi (Summer Parker), one of whom was the grown-up narrator (Octavia Spencer). When the show became the series Schooled (2019), it was retooled to be all about The Goldbergs character Lainey Lewis (AJ Michalka) and her career as a teacher at the high school at which she used to be a student. Felicia Somers is one of her students, still portrayed by Rachel Crow.
