This home video of sorts made by Paul Thomas Anderson hit the internet around 2012 but I&apos;ve only heard about it now. Already with a short film in his resume (&quot;The Dirk Diggler Story&quot; in 1988, which would form the basis for his major breakthrough &quot;Boogie Nights&quot;), Anderson spent some time in the early 1990&apos;s working as a production assistant in some films - the case featured here was a TV movie with an upcoming release in 1993. Maybe out of boredom or just trying to showcase his talent, and completely unbeknowsnt from his superiors, he went to direct and host this strange and amusing behind the scenes of a TV movie.

It starts off without credits, followed by a complete exposition of the studio parking lot where he interviews crew members asking about whose crew is the most important in the making of a movie - he believes that the transportation department is the one (with some obvious reasoning). And each crew will defend itself. There&apos;s some sassiness coming from P. T. Anderson with many humored exchanges (at each interview he presents himself with a different name), almost as if feeling deep down that whatever the work he was hired to do wasn&apos;t important - he was more curious in knowing which actor needed the most makeup. It&apos;s not like he&apos;s watching the making of a potential great movie; it&apos;s just a small ladder to climb, learn and observe the logistics of a production, what to avoid and what to absorb when directing his movies.

It&apos;s all too random and it ends in an abrupt manner, difficult to form a full take of what&apos;s it about or if it&apos;s good or bad. It was definitely different, a very unusual way to see a famous figure before fame and awards. From then on, he only got better. 6/10.
