P-51 (P is for pursuit), is a fighter plane which escorted bombers. It had a range that could go all the way to Germany and back. It had an 80-gallon fuel tank in the cockpit, behind the pilot. It had two large wing tanks and a drop tank at the bottom which at first was made of aluminum, then replaced by papier-mache due to the former's scarcity.The fuel from the fuselage and drop tanks would be completed first, then the drop tanks would be ejected.
